The Bronx Zoo was blocks away from Hnizdovsky's apartment in the East Bronx, and Central Park was only a subway ride away. Living in New York City, Hnizdovsky had plenty of models for his prints. His frequent overseas trips opened his horizons to many more subjects, especially sheep.
